Last year this prolific venue produced two treble tons and 5 double tons from just 10 anglers, so we thought 'lets have a mid match weigh-in this year' to ease the keepnet problem as the net limit is 50lb. Well of course this promptly put the kibosh on things - at least for the first half of the match - with none of us catching at anything approaching last years rate. So the mid-weigh was dropped - cue a much better second half for most, with weights gaining some respectability.
15 fished today in warm and sunny conditions with a gentle breeze, clouding over a little towards the end of the match. Todays winner by a clear margin was Simon with 218lbs caught up in the water. Unlike quite a few of us, Simon persisted with UIW and eventually got 'em going consistently. The other angler who persevered and got his rewards UIW was Josh in 2nd place with157lb. 3rd at the front of the middle order was Mark with 139lb. Talking of the middle order a number of us switched to good old fashioned pellet margin fishing and found more reliable feeding. Personally this is the first time I've ever had to plumb the depth at Orchard!
Very well done to our framers today.

Blimey, I didn't even get on the board, I thought I had quite a good day

Ooooops - sorry Gino.
Well thats a funny one - you were definitely on this list when I typed it, hence the gap to position 8.
And yes you did have quite a good day
No doubt retribution awaits
Sorted now.

Funny old day, guess we all thought it would fish as it has done the last two years but took a lot of feed and effort to get them up and confidently feeding. Then getting them in was another matter, these guys have packed some weight and muscle on...ache like buggery still today !!!
Re: Orchard Place Farm 6th July 2019
Oh and I did like Josh’s proactive approach of getting amongst them
